Photos of Great Local Restaurant Food

Where can you find cake like this in Monroe County? I shot this photo in the kitchen at the Frog Leg Inn in Erie yesterday evening. This is a single serving of an incredibly moist and rich six-layer chocolate cake. Catherine’s son Cedric is studying Culinary Arts at Monroe County Community College and also works at the restaurant. Desserts are his favorite things to make. Explaining this cake, “Six layers, all that frosting, all this heat and humidity … the thing was sliding off of itself! Besides, cake doesn’t look good by itself, so I just figured I’d decorate the Hell out of it.” Yeah, and it’s yummy, too!

More great photos after the jump …

Mary’s favorite dish is the Farmer’s Chicken, “Chicken breast slices sautéed with red onion, mushrooms, red and green peppers, finished with a white wine cream sauce. Served over black pepper fettuccini.”

Sitting alongside Mary’s plate on the serving tray was someone’s Land and Sea with Shrimp, “Our 8 ounce hand-cut beef, grilled to order, served with grilled or deep-fried shrimp.” It’s seen here with the restaurant’s Garlic Mashed potatoes and Braised Cabbage.

Finally, something I wanted to try, Chicken Forestiere, “Sautéed chicken breast with bacon, onion, wild imported mushrooms, white wine and brandy, and heavy cream.” After my first mouthful of this dish, it instantly became my favorite chicken dish ever!

Special thanks to Chef Cedric and Chef Jenelle for such incredible food … and for letting us shoot photos around them and not running us over!

  1. I’d go just for the cake! Did not see desserts on the menu—what were some of the choices or does the selection change daily?

  2. The selection changes daily. The dessert case is just inside the front door of the lobby and you can start the mouthwatering then! 🙂

  3. Oh wow, that Chicken Forestiere looks great. I have got to get down to the Frog Leg Inn.

  4. You sure eat at the Frog Leg Inn A LOT!!! 🙂

  5. Ummm .. no we DON’T! 😉

The fact is, for a while now I’ve been running their web site, and am in the process of helping them get their menus re-done. So, ok, we’re a little biased!
