Third Anniversary at the Frog Leg Inn

Mary and I have agreed … the Frog Leg Inn in Erie, Michigan is our favorite restaurant anywhere. We may appear biased since we’re such good friends with everyone over there, but evenings such as yesterday evening, when we celebrated our third year of marriage by eating at the restaurant, just keep us thinking that way.

Below is my serving of Pork Saltimbocca, “Grilled pork tenderloin served with sautéed wild mushrooms and prosciutto ham in a savory mushroom cream sauce”.

Below is one of my faves, Mary’s 8 oz serving of Steak ‘Jacques’ Daniel. From the menu; “We coat this fabulous strip steak with mixed cracked peppercorns, grill it to order, and finish with a Tennessee bourbon sauce”. On the smaller plate are garlic mashed potatoes and Chef Tad’s own braised cabbage.

  1. Happy anniversary! We celebrated ours in October, too. Coincidentally, we enjoyed food from one of our favorite local restaurants for the occasion: The Common Grill in Chelsea. Have you been there?

  2. Thanks Leslie! How many years? I’ve not eaten in downtown Chelsea yet, but Craig Common’s books make the place sound quite good. One of these days …

  3. My hubbie and I celebrated 8 years of wedded bliss (ha!) this year. Hey, we should “trade” local restaurants. I’ll go visit the Frog Leg Inn and report back, and you come visit the Common Grill and report back. Is there much for the wee crowd there? (as in 4 and 7 year olds?)

  4. Happy Anniversay, Dave & Mary! Only 37 more and you will catch up with me …

Thank you for turning me onto the Frog Leg Inn. I have told so many people about it! Last we dined there I fell in love with the Steak jacque Daniels. 🙂

Have you checked out this food blog? http://thepioneerwomancooks.com/ Being a food junkie, I though you might love it too.

  6. Leslie, that sounds like a great idea! We’ll just have to figure out the when-and-where.

Joey, thanks! 🙂 But honestly, I didn’t think you to be that many years on?

ProShopper, you’re welcome! My favorite dish there is the Chicken Forestiere. There’s supposed to be a new menu coming out soon, and I do know the Steak ‘Jacques’ Daniel and the Chicken Forestiere made the cut. I’d linked to the Pioneer Woman site about a month ago … it’s over on the right under “Non-Michigan Food Blogs”. She does some great stuff. It’s been a long time since I’;ve had a good Eggs Benedict!

  7. Congratulations on 3 years!

  8. Thanks SK! Hey, how many years has it been for you and Scott? I don’t think I’ve heard.

  9. I’m late!! Happy 3rd!! You know you get big hugs from me!!
