We Interrupt This Food Blog for An Accident

Click on the above image for a larger version with more detail.

For various reasons, I was in the front passenger seat in the limousine in the above photo when we impacted the driver’s side of this minivan at the corner of Secor and Erie Roads at about noon today. I wasn’t injured, just banged up, and our one passenger in the back of the limo wasn’t injured either. The driver of the limousine went to a hospital later to be checked out. The driver of the minivan was extracted via Jaws of Life and was transported to another hospital. I have no clue how she is. I was the first one to her, and at that time, seconds after the accident, she couldn’t yet form a word, let alone a sentence.

I’m still a bit shakey with a few seatbelt and joint aches, and am too tired to write much more than this. Details tomorrow …

    WOW!

Glad you are ok and praying for the other woman. Let us know how she made out, if you know.

And hope the limo driver is well, too

  • That’s so scary! I hope you’re still doing well today and not too sore!

  • Thanks, everyone.

The limo driver is probably alright, but the driver of the minivan might have a long battle ahead of her to get well. I’ll likely never know.

Shawna, lots of soreness today and I would imagine for a week or two.

  • Yikes! Glad you’re ok. Sending good wishes for a quick and full recovery to you and the others involved, too.

Glad to hear you’re ok. Not too long ago I found myself in the same situation, only in a taxi cab out of town. It will be 2 years in April. Take care of yourself and make sure you get checked out!

Try and relax this weekend and don’t over do it.

  • oh no! I hope she’ll be ok. and I’m glad you’ve got no serious injuries. Get better fast!

  • Dave! I am so glad you are OK!! I will be praying for a speedy recovery and my thoughts are with the women who was driving the van.

  • oh goodness, happy to hear that you are OK. I was clicking around on blogrolls came across your blog and this post. Glad I did, because I’m not the best driver. It puts things in perspective for me. Thanks for sharing.

  • Jaden, there’s still a lot of soreness in the right shoulder. I’m hoping it’ll be gone in a week or so.

Tonya, I’m more worried about the stuff you guys have to go through than with what happened to me.

WORC, welcome! And Thanks! BTW, I’m a lurker over on your blog myself. Looked at it for the first time just a couple days ago, and will probably stick around. :-)

  • Angels wrapped their arms around you, Dave. I know how scary these moments can be but I see from above posts that you will be OK. Backflashes are common … prayers for all those involved. Makes us realize how precious a day can be!

  • Thanks Joey! I heard from the limo driver last night and this morning. He’ll be ok, but he’s a bit more banged up than I am. He also wrote, “The only information my wife was able to get about the lady in the van was that ‘she’s in stable condition’ so our prayers will go out to her and her family.” It was good to hear from him, and I’m glad he’s alright.

You looked pretty good the other night with respects to your ordeal. Sorry I didn’t get to talk to you more, you know…dept. stuff. BTW, why were you filming? For the others that didn’t come? I seem to get put in the hot seat on occasion due to my position (or many positions…LOL).
    Glad you’re ok though.

  • Thanks Cyndi! Yeah, I’m better than I was. Mary requested the video of your class the other evening, and Kenny did as well. I’ll be able to integrate the PPT with the video itself, so it’ll end up a nice package.
