With all the cakes I’m posting photos of, you’re getting an idea of how birthdays are around this house. My birthday is on Halloween, and then three of my kids have birthdays in the month of November. This time round it’s turning into a showcase for the delightful Rynn who is making all of our cakes for us this year.
Briahna is 16 this year, and when asked about her cake she said she wanted pink and lime green decorations, and a marble cake with chocolate filling.
Rynn took this information and created this cake. The thing was incredibly heavy, I’m guessing weighing maybe seven or eight pounds. There was cardboard between the two sections, with plastic straws as supports through the bottom section to hold up the top. There was also a buttercream frosting on the cake as a crumb coat before the fondant was applied for the outer decorations. The lettering on top is perfect because Rynn had picked up some metal fondant cutters in the shape of all the letters. I’m not sure but the ten digits may be in that set of cutters as well. I was going to pick up the cutters for Rynn myself but the cheeky girl beat me to it …
This cake was incredible, very moist and wonderfully flavorful, while Briahna said it was “yummy!” Briahna also said the fondant was way better than she’d heard, where it was often referred to in conversation as tasting like Play-Doh, and that this fondant tasted just like frosting. And the chocolate filling between the layers was rich and creamy.
Next is Adam’s cake. What will it be? He has no idea yet. But I’m sure Rynn will make it great!
